Beached, ailing grey whale swims away on rising tide

Tsawwassen, Canada - A wrong-way whale returned to the depths last night, rewarding the day-long efforts of volunteers to keep it alive.

With a mighty heave of its tail, the young grey whale headed into the warm waters of Boundary Bay after being beached about 400 metres from shore at Tsawwassen's Centennial Beach for more than eight hours.
