Bill on WMDs introduced in House
New Delhi, India - India has taken the first step towards putting in place a comprehensive legislative system to make WMD (weapons of mass destruction) proliferation a criminal offence.
The Weapons of Mass Destruction and their Delivery Systems (prohibition of unlawful activities) Bill, 2005, piloted by defence minister Pranab Mukherjee on behalf of external affairs minister Natwar Singh, is described as an iron-clad commitment of India's promises against proliferation in relation to weapons of mass destruction, their means of delivery and related dual-use materials, equipment and technologies.
