Canada winning the war on bacterial resistance

Ottawa, Canada - According to the National Report Card on Antibiotic Resistance, Canada is still among the most successful countries in fighting antibiotic resistance but some resistance rates are increasing.

"Resistance rates for penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae have stabilized and even decreased slightly," said Dr. Donald Low, principal investigator at the Canadian Bacterial Surveillance Network and microbiologist-in-chief at Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital.
