Clinton to help Maldives plug tsunami aid gap

Colombo, Sri Lanka - Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has vowed to lobby for $114 million in aid to plug a tsunami relief shortfall for the remote Maldives, the government of the Indian Ocean island cluster said on Sunday.

"He is going to help us in mobilizing aid and getting funds," Maldives Chief Government Spokesman Ahmed Shaheed told Reuters by telephone from the capital Male. "He is going to draw more attention to what we need."
