County ‘green print’ in works
"It's time for the county to do something positive and pro-active."
- Marina Dimitrijevic, county supervisor
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - Milwaukee County would start going "green" under a new policy calling for updating the courthouse and other county buildings for energy efficiency, buying hybrid or fuel-efficient vehicles for county workers and converting some low-use park land into no-maintenance prairie plantings.
A key element of the county plan would be upgrading county buildings for efficiency, which could mean replacing lights with energy-efficient bulbs, installing automatic shut-off switches on lights when offices aren't in use and possibly installing solar heating panels.
