Dalai Lama preaches message of optimism at Rutgers |
Piscataway - While never raising his voice above the level of a conversation with friends, the Dalai Lama spoke yesterday before an adoring crowd of 36,000, blending optimism with humor before the largest gathering at Rutgers Stadium for an event that did not involve competition.
The 70-year-old Dalai Lama called himself a child of the 20th century, a century that marked two world wars and the threat of nuclear holocaust during the Cold War. "I think today is much better," he said.
