Deal reached in Najaf; thousands flood shrine

Najaf, Iraq - Hours after Iraq's most revered Shiite leader brokered a deal that apparently called for the withdrawal of a rival cleric's militia from a mosque complex in the holy city of Najaf, the militants today greeted thousands of Shiite marchers and allowed them to enter the shrine.

A witness said the marchers kissed the outer wall of the shrine and chanted religious slogans.
