Everglades activists turn their eyes to Iraq marsh restoration

Miami Beach, Florida - A marsh in Iraq that was twice the size of the original Florida Everglades was almost completely drained under Saddam Hussein, and Everglades experts began sharing their restoration knowledge this week to help save the Middle East wetland.

The first day of the annual Everglades Coalition conference in Miami Beach focused on sharing information for wetland restoration projects, including the Mesopotamian marshes and projects in South America, elsewhere in the tropics and in the United States.
