‘I call him a hero!’

Saskatchewan - The modest man who plucked a nine-year-old boy out of the icy North Saskatchewan River was yesterday reunited with the youngster and met his grateful parents. "I call him a hero!" said Steven Hillman of Patrizio Bartolozzi, who on Thursday edged on to the crumbling ice at the river's edge to pull Steven from the current.

"He's a saviour. He's a precious gift," said Heitner. "We need more people like him around." Hillman's dad added: "Our son means the world to us and we can never say or do enough to thank (Patrizio)."
