Industry claims major progress in dealing with global warming
"Ninety-eight resorts took part in the campaign, including 58 that are buying green energy through renewable energy credits."
- Troy Hawks, industry spokesman
Lakewood, Colorado, USA - The National Ski Areas Association claimed in a report released Thursday that resorts had reduced CO2 emissions this season enough to equal the planting of 18 million trees.
The green power purchases are the equivalent of shutting down 263,000 ski lifts for one day or avoiding 181,000 round-trip flights between San Francisco and New York, said Hawks.
