Lights out for 100-watt bulbs

There is no light at the end of the tunnel for the humble 100-watt bulb after a European Union ruling banning their manufacture and import came into place yesterday

The ban will be extended to all incandescent bulbs by 2012 in a bid make the public switch to energy-saving compact fluorescent bulbs.
