Marine Pledges To Donate Marrow, Wins $2.9M
“They asked me if I was sure I wanted to go through with it, because it’s kind of painful, but what’s a little pain if it will save someone’s life?”
- Cpl. Alexander Degenhardt
A U.S. Marine who recently pledged and was accepted as a bone marrow donor credits that good karma for his $2,882,808 windfall at a Las Vegas penny slot machine.
Cpl. Alexander Degenhardt, 26, hit the jackpot on the Money Vault Millionaires Seven slot at the Bellagio hotel and casino, while waiting for a return flight to Washington D.C. after training at Nellis Air Force Base, the Las Vegas Sun reported.
According to the publication, Degenhardt's big win came only days after he was tested and matched for donation with an anonymous patient. He said he's still planning to go through with the marrow donation, which is scheduled to occur in the next six months.
