New Orleans Declared ‘Dry’ After Devastating Floods
New Orleans, LA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it has finished pumping water out of New Orleans, after the southern city flooded as a result of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
A spokeswoman for the Corps made the announcement Tuesday after working for weeks to pump the water out at a rate of about 15 centimeters per day. The Corps of Engineers is responsible for New Orleans' levees and flood walls.
