Palestinian attacks on Israel to stop until end of year

Jerusalem - Palestinian militant groups agreed yesterday to extend a truce with Israel after days of talks in Egypt.

The move was welcomed by Ariel Sharon, the Israeli prime minister, who described it as "a positive first step" towards peace.
