PEI sees energy self-sufficiency blowin’ in the wind

North Cape, Prince Edward Island - After centuries of cursing the wild winds off the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Prince Edward Islanders are vowing to harness the gales to power the tiny province.

A wind farm located on the northern tip of PEI now produces 5 per cent or about 11 megawatts of the power used by the province's 139,000 residents.
