Remote landmine clearer unveiled
Pretoria, South Africa - A British inventor has unveiled a remote-controlled device to clear landmines that kill or maim 2000 people worldwide a month, saying the new "MineBurner" could generate huge savings for mine-clearing operations across the world.
Paul Richards, 59, a former air pilot, demonstrated the MineBurner at South Africa's Council for Scientific Industrial Research (CSIR) in Pretoria which has conducted three successful test trials of the device and has approved its use.
