Soweto’s miracle: From strife to World Cup glow

Having seen one impossible dream come true — the death of apartheid — Soweto is getting ready for another: the arrival of soccer's World Cup, the most-watched sporting event on the planet.

The government has invested in parks, roads, and other infrastructure, and private investors have built malls and housing.
