Tanzanian government in joint programme to eliminate child labour

Dar es Salaam - The government in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), is implementing a special programme on the elimination of the worst forms of child labour, according to the Minister for Labour, Employment and Youth Development, Professor Jumanne Maghembe.

Prof Maghembe said, in combating poverty, the government has enacted a new labour law, The Employment and Labour Relations Act of 2004, which prohibits child labour and it is a criminal offence to deploy children in the worst forms of child labour.
