Tsunami detection buoy deployed

Phuket, Thailand - A launching ceremony was being held on Friday in Phuket, Thailand for the deployment of the first tsunami detection buoy in the Indian Ocean.

The project, funded jointly by the US and Thailand, will allow all countries in the network simultaneously receive information from the buoy if they are connected to its telecommunications network.
