UK marine conservation sites planned

Twelve new marine conservation sites around the coast have been proposed by Natural England, the Joint Nature Conservation Committeeand the Countryside Council for Wales.

A total of 10 special areas of conservation (SACs) would protect habitats such as cold water reefs and sandbanks, and two special protection areas (SPAs) would conserve bird species.
