UN agency launches new project to prevent rape in refugee camps

Kenya - Although the incidence of rape in refugee camps in Kenya has dropped drastically, the United Nations refugee agency and its partners in the East African country have launched a project to strengthen existing actions to prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence.

Educational materials and videos are being produced and distributed so that refugees and other beneficiaries of the Kenya programme can learn more about their rights, entitlements, and the zero tolerance policy towards sexual exploitation and abuse.
