UN operation in Haiti welcomes ‘calm’ Senate elections
The United Nations mission in Haiti has paid tribute to the people of the impoverished country and its security forces for holding well-run Senate elections yesterday.
The mission praised Haitians for fulfilling their civic duty in turning out at polling stations and, noting improvements in the organization of the second round of voting, thanked all the national and international partners who supported the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) in implementing its mandate.
