U.S. stocks rise as investors wait for earnings
New York City - Stocks were up slightly at midday on Monday as investors anticipated strong quarterly earnings reports later in the week.
"The market is optimistic with respect to fourth-quarter earnings and what guidance could hopefully be for the first half of next year, so that's going to be the key," said Peter Boockvar, equity strategist at Miller Tabak & Co.
