Wal-Mart to settle immigrant case

Washington, DC - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. agreed Friday to pay $11 million to the federal government in a landmark settlement of allegations that illegal immigrants cleaned its stores.

The settlement is by far the largest related to an employer's use of illegal immigrant labor, and a senior government official hailed it as a "milestone for corporate responsibility."
