Weather clears in J-K, air links restored
Srinagar - After reeling under avalanches which killed about 100 people in three days, Jammu and Kashmir on Monday received a respite from snowfall enabling the authorities to launch a massive relief operation by airlifting essential commodities to the valley as air links were restored ending the ordeal of stranded passengers.
Indian Air Force planes and choppers carried out several sorties bringing in vegetables, milk and other essential commodities to the valley, where 73 people died in Qazigund area in Anantnag district since Sunday in avalanches triggered by the worst snowfall in the past 15 years, bringing the total toll to 99.
