Wedding teaches environment-friendly lesson

Vellore, India - It was a model wedding for the dusty Tamil Nadu town, a hands-on lesson on how to celebrate even while taking care of the earth's resources.

Feast cooked on biogas stoves, decorations using flowers, food served on banana leaves and steel tumblers to distribute water - the wedding of Vellore Srinivasan, the man who spearheaded Vellore's garbage-to-energy movement, was a no-plastic-no-paper affair.
