Wind to power Lafarge cement works in Morocco
Rabat, Morocco - A new cement works in northern Morocco will be powered by wind-generated electricity in a scheme linked to the Kyoto accord to reduce global warming, operators Lafarge said Thursday.
A Lafarge official said the turbines would generate 40 percent of the electricity used by the plant at full capacity, avoiding the emission of 38,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas carbon dioxide per year.
