NASA scientists said Tuesday the Spirit rover has met its expected mission length on Mars, yet continues to operate.

Spirit's latest move is to roll toward nearby hills that could harbor evidence of water.

The 150 pound (Martian weight) rover passed its 90th Martian day on Monday after landing on Jan. 3. Spirit and its twin, Opportunity, have accomplished nearly all of their designed tasks, officials said, among which was a goal of rolling at least 1,980 feet.
